Terms of use
Last updated October 2026. By using Convert In Place you agree to these terms.
The service
The site offers free file converters and guides: converting images between formats, turning images into PDF, turning PDF pages into images, reducing file size and recognizing text in images and scanned PDFs. All conversion runs in your browser on your own device. No account is needed.
Technical requirements
You need a current browser with JavaScript and WebAssembly enabled, and enough free memory on your device for the files you convert. Very large files can fail, especially on phones. The how it works page lists the limits.
Use of the service
The converters are free to use for personal and commercial files. You may only convert files you have the right to use. Do not use the site for unlawful content, and do not use it in a way that harms it, its hosting or other users, for example by automated mass requests.
Starting and ending use
The agreement for using the service comes into being when you start using the site and ends when you stop. You can stop at any time without notice. We may change, suspend or discontinue the service or any part of it, and we may update these terms; the version shown on this page applies from the date above.
No warranty
The service is provided as is. Conversion can change or reduce quality, and results may differ between browsers and devices. Keep your original files. We do not guarantee that the output is error free or fit for a particular purpose, and recognized text in particular must be checked before you rely on it.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and your mandatory rights as a consumer. Subject to that, and to the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site or from files that are converted incorrectly or fail to convert.
Intellectual property
The text, design and logo of this site belong to the provider. Your files remain yours: we do not receive them and claim no rights in them or in the results. The open source components used by the site stay under their own licenses, listed on the how it works page and in the license notices.
Complaints
If something does not work or you disagree with how we handled a matter, write to contact@convertinplace.com and describe the page, the tool and what happened. We aim to reply within 14 days. This does not affect your right to go to a court or to a consumer body.
Third party names
Names of file formats and companies are used only to describe compatibility. Convert In Place is not affiliated with or endorsed by their owners.
