Why convert PNG to PDF
Screenshots and exported graphics are commonly PNG. Putting them into a PDF makes them easier to attach, print and send as one document.
Typical situations
- Turning screenshots of a conversation, receipt or web page into a PDF
- Combining exported slides or diagrams into one document
- Sending several images as a single attachment
What to watch for
Transparent areas in a PNG are placed on a white page background. PNG pages are embedded without lossy compression, so a PDF of many large screenshots can be big. The text inside screenshots is not selectable in the PDF.
Tips for better results
- Choose Best quality to keep PNG screenshots lossless, or Smaller file when the PDF must stay under an upload limit.
- Put pages in order before creating the file, because you cannot reorder them afterwards.
- The text inside screenshots is not selectable in the PDF, so use image to text if you need the words.

Frequently asked questions
Will the text in my PNG be searchable in the PDF?
No. The PDF holds the picture of the text. To get real text, use the image to text tool, which reads the words from an image.
How do I convert PNG to PDF under 1 MB?
Choose Under 1 MB as the maximum PDF size in the options. Screenshots are re-encoded to fit, so text may look slightly softer when the limit is very low.
Can I put screenshots and photos into the same PDF?
Yes. Add PNG screenshots together with JPG or other pictures. Every image becomes one page, and you can reorder them before creating the file.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser using your own device, so the files are not sent to Convert In Place or anyone else. See how it works for a way to check this yourself.
Is there a limit on file size or number of files?
You can use it as often as you like. One batch holds up to 200 files, and each file can be up to 200 MB. Large files and long batches depend on the memory of your device, and phones handle less than computers.
