How to use this converter
- Choose in Options whether to save every page separately or to extract chosen pages.
- If you extract pages, type them in the box, for example 1-3, 5, then add your PDF.
- Press Split PDF and download the new PDF, or the single pages as a ZIP.
Why split a PDF
A long PDF often contains only a few pages you need to send, or pages that belong to different people. Splitting gives you exactly those pages as a separate file, with text and pictures untouched.
Typical situations
- Sending one chapter or one signed page instead of the whole document
- Separating a long scan into one file per page
- Cutting an attachment down to the pages that matter
What to watch for
Pages are copied without being redrawn, so text stays selectable and quality is unchanged. When you split every page, the pages are named with their numbers and offered as a ZIP. Page ranges are written like 1-3, 5, 8-: a dash on its own after a number means until the last page. Bookmarks and links between pages may not be kept. PDFs protected with a password cannot be opened, and a file can have at most 500 pages.
Tips for better results
- Check the page numbers in your viewer first, because the first page is 1 even when the printed number is different.
- You can repeat or reorder pages, for example 3, 1, 2, to build a new order.
- Use PDF to JPG instead if you want the pages as pictures.

Frequently asked questions
How do I extract only some pages from a PDF?
Choose Extract pages, type the pages in Pages to extract, for example 1-3, 5, and add your PDF. You get a new PDF with just those pages, in the order you typed them.
Can I split a PDF online for free without signing up?
Yes. Splitting runs online in your browser, it is free, and there is no account, signup or watermark.
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Keep the option Every page as a separate PDF and add your file. You get one PDF per page, which you can download one by one or as a ZIP.
What do I type to select pages?
Separate pages with commas and write ranges with a dash: 1-3, 5, 8- means pages 1, 2, 3, 5 and 8 to the end. Pages must exist in the file.
Is the PDF uploaded to split it?
No. The pages are split in your browser and the new files are created on your device.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser using your own device, so the files are not sent to Convert In Place or anyone else. See how it works for a way to check this yourself.
Is there a limit on file size or number of files?
You can use it as often as you like. One batch holds up to 200 files, and each file can be up to 200 MB. Large files and long batches depend on the memory of your device, and phones handle less than computers.
